WHY FAST?
Sacred Scripture helps us see that fasting produces humility, clears a path to God, and helps brings about conversion. Through sacrifice and detachment, fasting helps us become more free to love God and neighbor.
WHEN DO WE FAST?
Fasting is encouraged all throughout Lent. There are particular days when the universal Church fasts together. Fridays during Lent are days of abstinence from meat.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fasting and abstinence from meat. On these days, we commit to eating no more than one full meal and two smaller meals / snacks (that together are not equal to a full meal).
CRS RICE BOWLS
Parishioners also will have the opportunity to donate to Catholic Relief Services by participating in Operation Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program to respond to the needs of our global community.
Pick up your rice bowl in the church vestibule or at the church office.

Lent is the perfect opportunity to renew your relationship with God through the Sacraments. If you haven’t been to Confession in a while, we invite you to participate in this beautiful sacrament of healing where Christ awaits you with open arms.
Weekly Schedule for Mass, Adoration and Confession
Learn MoreStarting on Ash Wednesday, the diocese will launch 40 Days of Adoration. Every day for 40 days, a different parish throughout the Diocese will host Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for Adoration throughout the day.
Parishioners and families of host parishes, neighboring parishes, and Catholic school
communities are encouraged to volunteer for shifts to pray before the Blessed Sacrament on the parish’s designated day. An ancient custom from the church of Rome is to visit a different “stational church” each day of Lent. In the same manner, the people of the church of Columbus are invited to visit and spend time with Jesus in the Eucharist at as many different host parishes on their day of Adoration.
