Mass Times & Returning to Public Worship
We are excited to announce that on the Feast of Pentecost – the weekend of May 30-31 – there will be public Masses at Christ the King. We will celebrate the Eucharist together again!
We are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, so Mass will feel more than a little bit different. Our goal is to keep our parishioners safe, which means that we have to be responsible for each other. For example, we will ask that all parishioners wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Because we need to maintain at least six feet between us, our church’s seating capacity will be greatly reduced. And once the church is full, we will not be able to accommodate anyone else. This means it is important to get to church early!
The reduced seating capacity in the church also means a change in Mass times. Until at least the end of June, the Mass times will be as follows:
Saturday Mass, starting on May 30th 4pm (English)
6pm (Spanish)
Sunday Mass Times, starting on May 31st 10am (English)
2pm (Spanish)
6pm (Spanish)
We know that these are not necessarily the most convenient Mass times for everyone. For this we apologize! But we believe this modified schedule is going to allow the greatest number of people to worship around the altar during this time of pandemic.
As Bishop Brennan mentioned in his recent letter, anyone who is vulnerable to COVID-19 should remain at home. In fact, the bishop has dispensed all Catholics from the obligation to attend Mass until September. For those who cannot participate at Mass in church, we will continue to have Mass streamed on Facebook and YouTube.
An important note: Beginning May 31, we will have the distribution of Holy Communion on Sundays at 7:00pm. This simple rite will be specifically for individuals and families who participate in Mass online and/or those who are unable to attend Mass in person for some reason.
Confessions offered this Friday, May 22
If you would like to attend the Sacrament of Confession this Friday, please schedule an appointment by calling Desmond Webster at 614-427-3585. When you call to set up an appointment, you will be given further instructions about times available, what to do, and where to go for confession. You are also welcome to go to confession at any of the other participating parishes in the Diocese. You will find a list of local parishes offering confession here:
